are dealt with by school personnel in a friendly and respectful manner.”
There does seem to be some concern among the parents of elementary school students with the bus system and with the cleanliness of the school building. About 149 parents at the elementary school agreed or strongly agreed that “The cleanliness of the school buildings is acceptable.” About 44 parents disagreed or strongly disagreed with that statement.
Also at the elementary school about 119 parents agreed or strongly agreed that “The transportation services that are offered by the Rappahannock County School Baord are excellent” while 72 disagreed or strongly disagreed. High school parents had a greater tendency to agree with both statements.
Also at the high school there seems to be some concern about the fairness of discipline. About 97 parents agreed or strongly agreed with the statement “Discipline in the Rappahannock County public schools is fair and consistent” while about 36 parents disagreed or strongly disagreed with that. Elementary school parents were more inclined to agree with the statement.
Parents at both schools agreed that “Persons entering a school building should be required to report to the main office.”
School Superintendent David Gangel said that partly as a result of the survey the school system would be doing further study.
