During World II, Mr. Cntzer was in the U.S. Navy and saw action in the Pacific aboard L ST 625 as a Gunner’s Mate. He had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1946. He was also Deputy Sheriff for his father in 1950-1962. And most recently, in 1984-1986, he was a member of the Washington Tpwn Council in the tradition of his family, his mother having been elected to the famous all-woman Town Council of 1950 with his father being on the council before that. , , A family service was held at Glen Eyrie Farm, followed by a graveside service and interment at Washington Masonic Cemetery on September 21, 1991. Bill Harrison and Reverend John K. Burke Jr. officiated. A U.S. Naval Guard folded and presented the flag. Military arrangements were made by Carson B. Johnson, assisted by Wendy Whitford playing taps and Susan B. Myers saluting the flag.
Honorary pallbearers were James W. Fletcher Jr., Dr. Norman Horwitz, Paul R. St. Clair and Robert S. Eubank. Pallbearers were Newbill Miller, Charles K. Estes, Jack Price, Michael M. Massie, Douglas K. Baumgardner, Frankie Huff, J. Kent Reeve and Gene Lyman.
Out-of-town relatives were his nephew Russell A. Williams, San Jose, Ca. and his cousin Catherine S. Oatland, Richmond.
