responsible for his or her actions, their consequences, their lives—is fast disappearing.

If we act with self-reliance and responsibility, the quality of life both in material goods and in social relations, improves for everyone. On the contrary, if we act as if it is society’s fault when anything goes wrong, then everyone suffers.

No political party is faultless. Both parties have contributed to our troubles. We can view Democratic policies as: never asking welfare recipients to work even if able; be lenient toward criminals for it probably isn’t their fault; don’t expect children in school to study at home—having encouraged growth of these flaws, not by intent, certainly by policies and deeds. How well this was brought out by the Senate liberals, Kennedy, Biden and Metzenbaum, intensive grilling of Supreme Court nominee Thomas to further their political agenda. Republican policies support the free enterprise system which is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice through self-reliance.

Bob Darby fully agrees with these policies. He has the experience and results to prove that it works. When elected, he will pursue these policies decisively in Richmond, where it is greatly needed.

Vote for Bob Darby on Nov. 5.
