If the Town Council grants its approval, Spring Mountain plans an Open House to the public in October, said Ms. Craig.
Plans by the Legionnaires of Christ, a Potomac, Md.-based group of Catholic clergy, to sponsor a group of Mexican girls to live and study at the site did not materialize this year, said Ms. Craig. The girls are staying in Connecticut.
She added that the Mexican students may still come to Rappahannock in the future, however.
Fr. Albert Verbeke, pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, which has occupied the annex next to the old school, said this week that construction on St. Peter’s new building on U.S. 211-522 west of Washington were proceeding apace, and he expects to be in the building, at least in the church part, by Christmas.
He said he hopes to dedicate the new building by March.
