The Red Cross Bloodmobile
which visited Rappahannock County last week claimed its quota, the first time in several visits. Under the auspices of the Rappahannock Lions Club with R.A. Baines as its president, the mobile visit received 40 units of blood. Baines expressed appreciation to all 53 donors who presented themselves at the bloodmobile.
Two additional rabid raccoons were detected in the northern section of Fauquier County within the past two weeks. The latest report involved a raccoon that was killed near Middleburg. This brings the total rabies outbreak to 15 animals in Fauquier County, of which 11 involved raccoons. Loudoun County has reported 14 rabid raccoons this summer.
