The North Fork of the Thornton River overflowed its banks in many places and the rapidly rolling waters washed out portions of roads and bridges. Culverts and pipes were blocked and debris knocked down fences and cluttered bridges as it surged along the stream’s course. One family found it necessary to evacuate their home and another lost some animals to the forceful currents.
The annual fire training school sponsored by the Rappahannock County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association is scheduled for two weekends, Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26 and October 2 and 3.
