Beverly S. Atkins, Commissioner of the Revenue for Rappahannock County, has been awarded the title Certified Commissioner of the Revenue under a program administered by the University of Virginia’s Center for Public Service and Division of Continuing Education.
The program, which takes a minimum of three years to complete, requires a combination of extensive education and governmental experience.
The education process does not, however, end with the completion of the program. Every four years after initial certification, the recipient must complete an additional 60 hours of continuing education in order to remain certified.
A certificate for successful completion of the program was presented at the Local Government Officials’ Conference, which meets annually in August at the University of Virginia.
