Buzz Peele at Woodsmoke
Alexandria-based singer-songwriter Buzz Peele returns to the Woodsmoke Cafe at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1. Peele plays guitar and piano and will be performing Original songs, mostly blues but pop and folk styles as well.
He cites influences as diverse as Scott Joplin, Leadbelly, Ellington, Dylan and U2.
Peele has been performing solo for 20 years and is currently recording an album of new songs. In the D.C. area he has performed at Dylan's the Roundtable and Whitey's.

Wakefield CDS holds auction
Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly invites the public to participate in its auction by mail. Items range from $2 cookbooks to a $15,000 sculpture by Frederick Hart of Hume, whose statues at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and at the main entrance to the National Cathedral are well-known.

Library offers kids story hour
Preschool story hour started Oct. 30 and will run through Nov. 27. Story hours are held every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., and all preschoolers are welcome to attend.
Guest story tellers from the community will be reading stories.
As with all library programs, this is free and open to the public.
