Mr. Wood, said Mr. Darby, “has attempted with a couple of ploys to march to the right.”
His own strength, said Mr. Darby, lies in his business experience and management background. ,
“I think people ought to vote for me because of my business career. 1 have the experience it takes to be an effective legislator. . . .1 would bring management principles to the management of state affairs,” he said.
Mr. Wood said this week he feels “very optimistic. I’m very up. The polls look good, we’ve run a good . . . clean campaign, concentrating on the issues.”
He said that after six months of campaigning “it’s going to be hard to gear down.”
This week the candidates released campaign financing reports valid through Oct. 25.
Mr. Darby has raised $23,700 and spent $26,013. His campaign has remaining obligations unpaid of $9,075. Mr. Wood has raised $46,636, spent $37,706 and has unpaid obligations of $4,569.
