The Amissville Volunteer Fire * Department will host a halloween i party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 ° at the fire hall. The party is for chil’ dren of the community. Prizes will ■ be awarded for costumes and re* freshments will be served. Everyone is encouraged to come ! out on Monday nights to the Fire * Department’s special bingo with “ $500 jackpot. The Fire Department’s monthly meeting will be held next Wednesday, Nov. 6. I cannot praise the Department enough for the many sacrifices the fire and rescue personnel make for the community. Since our community has been known for its compassion and concern for others, you are encouraged to attend a benefit breakfast at neighboring Washington's fire hall this Saturday from 7 to 11. Proceeds * will assist Gary and Wanda Jenkins and her grandparents whose home burned recently. I understand Gary and Wanda have been volunteers for a long time with the Fire Depart, ment helping others. Let’s show our appreciation to them now. Don’t forget to cast your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for candidates of . your choice. Make plans now to attend the Amissville United Methodist bazaar from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. There will be handmade crafts, Christmas crafts, homemade apple butter, white elephant, a bake sale and pecans. Lunch will be available.
The Homemakers Club will not hold its meeting Nov. 4. In lieu of that meeting, all the clubs will meet at the Flint Hill Fire hall at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 to celebrate Achievement Night. The program will include a silent auction. The community will see less of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Markee as they begin traveling across the country evangelizing.
