2. If the property was appraised within the last two years for a bank loan, obtain a copy of the bank appraisal and compare to the county assessment. If the bank appraisal is lower, forward a copy to the Board of Assessors.
3. If your property has various problems that are not readily noticeable, inform the assessors of these items. Such things as rights-of-way, lifestates, lack of central heat, poor kitchens, and leaking roofs are just a few of the items that affect property values negatively.
It is very important that the property assessments accurately reflect the current market value, since this is the basis for the landowners’ annual real estate taxes.

comments
To the Editor:
The date draws near for next Tuesday sheriffs election and we would like to make a few final comments on the contest that has been waged over recent months. In this day of negative campaigns we have taken great care to support our candidate Roger Cordani in a professional manner.
The needs of Rappahannock citizens will continue to grow in the coming years. As these demands increase we will need public servants with new and innovative ideas. With 21 years as a public servant and 10 years ex|>erienee in law enforcement, Roger Cordani has the background, qualifications, and concern to bring such leadership to our Sheriffs Office.
The key to our society’s future is its young people. It is the responsibility of community leaders to assist parents in providing our youth with the guidance and support that will enable them to become productive and successful members of our community. Mr. Cordani’s ideas for drug awareness and junior deputy programs are intended to create the atmosphere which will lead to the necessary trust and cooperation between our youth and the Sheriffs Office. Mr. Cordani also plans to offer programs such as crime prevention for local businesses and selfdefense classes for women.
