This year’s theme-Shake, Rattle and Roll-took on a ’50s atmosphere with dice, music notes and Rappahannock pennants decorating the walls. The soda machines in the school’s common area were redecorated with Christmas lights, colored paper and design to resemble 1950style jukeboxes.
Alumni Richard Burke acted as disc-jockey for the dance, open to all students with a special invitation to school alumuni.
Dance proceeds—$3 for a single and $5 for couples admission- support various activities the NHS participates in each year.
In addition to the dance and halftime activities, Rappahannock County High School students held a spirit week prior to the homecoming game and a bonfire pep rally on Friday night before the game, sponsored by the SCA.
Rappahannock County High School has conducted fall homecoming activities for five years, earlier homecoming activites were conducted during half-time at a basketball game.
“Fall is the traditional time of homecoming,” said Mrs. Herman. * “The ceremony can be more elaborate when it is outside,” she said.
Dance and half-time activities are usually supported by the NHS.
