Auction at Castleton
The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will hold an auction beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Bill Payne will be the auctioneer. If you have any items you would like to donate please call 937-6051. “Help your fire department help you,” said a spokesperson.
Haunted house at Flint Hill
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 2nd annual haunted house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the fire hall. Treats and refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge. Parental discretion is advised for young children.
Trail ride and pig roast
A trail ride and pig roast will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 beginning at 11 a.m. Ride is about 10 miles in Rappahannock County. Entry fee is $17 if received by Oct. 26. Horses are available for lease. Negative coggins required. For more information call John or Jennifer at 675-3307.
Haunting melodies
Native American flutist, R. Carlos Nakai, will perform his haunting melodies at the Theatre at Washington, Va. at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 Local pianist Peter Kater will make a guest appearance to perform a few songs from their collaborative “Natives” recording. Tickets are on sale at Mountainside Market, Down to Earth in Sperryville, New Leaf Bookstore and Natural Marketplace in Warrenton, Better Thymes in Front Royal and Culpeper Music. Citrus fruit on sale
Several groups in the county will be selling fruit until Dec. 2 to help raise money for their respective organizations. Naval oranges ($18 box, $11 1/2 box), red grapefruit ($17 box, $11 1/2 box) and juice oranges ($15 box and $9 1/2 box) are being sold by the RCHS band, the RCHS chorus and the 7th grade students of RCES. Bingo at Amissville
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will have special bingo beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. Bingo will be held on Monday evenings until further notice. There will be a $500 jackpot. Call Sheila at 937-4357 for more information.
