Rappahannock voters. This is precisely why Bob Darby should be elected instead of Jerry Wood, as the single overall issue.
On the 26th Senatorial endorsement, Sen. Kevin Miller has been castigated for his vote to allow double-wide trailers as houses in agricultural zoning areas. This vote was supported by a large amount of people from this county and Culpeper. I personally saw these petitions being circulated, and since this law was adopted, I have worked for some of these new home purchasers. All this law did was bring affordable housing to people that were being denied one of the basic beauties of this country, home ownership. Over regulation, restrictive zoning and inflated building costs drove home buying prices up over the last 10, years; and this option helped bring about a drop in cost to stick building construction through competition. This is evidenced by more new stick built homes being constructed than double wide trailer sales.
Sen. Kevin Miller has, on numerous occasions, made visits to “Lii Washington” over the past eight years. I met with him on numerous occasions from ’84-’87, and I have read announcements of his visits since that time. Sen. Miller has been an exceptional educator, legislator and family man. For many years he was the only CPA in the Senate and not allowed an appointment to the Finance Committee. You see. Sen. Miller would have noticed that through the smoke and mirrors that the mirrors would indeed point towards each other and Virginia would be left in the shape we are now in.
The broad plans of highway construction has left Virginia with unfinished road projects and bridges on current roads in bad need of repair, and educational policies that did not educate but only bloated the state employment rolls and left our children with declining SAT scores. Sen. Kevin Miller’s experience and knowledge should be returned to the Senate.
Of your endorsement for the 25th Senatorial District. Both Mr. Michie and Ed Robb are newcomers on the scene as far as voters of Rappahannock are concerned. The only strength Sen. Michie seems to possess is that he is a Democrat. Since he is a Democrat, he will be able to give us better representation than a Republican would. If in 10 years the Communist Party were in the majority, they would also use the same pitch.
The arrogance of the Democratic Party has been witnessed many times in the recent months by the people of Rappahannock and throughout the state. A “do as I say and not as I do - ask no questions I’ll give you no lies” PR campaign that comes out of Richmond and Washington is enough to make you sick. Sen. Michie has one of the most liberal voting records of any candidate that has come before Rappahannock voters. He feels that the 20 years he has voted against the very issues we would have been for qualifies him for our support simply because he’s a Democrat. A vote for «. Ed Robb is a vote against the taxand-spend Democrats of Richmond.
