harriers take third
Wakefield Country Day School’s cross country team finished third in the Delaney Conference district meet Saturday, Oct. 19, winning the new school’s first-ever trophy.
Matt McCurry finished second in a field of 12 boys with a time of 19:08. He was named all-conference.
Other Wakefield CDS runners to compete: Colby Cowherd, 8th; Tim Inglis, 9th; Sandeep Ranade, 11th.
In a field of 25 girls, Kristin Hickson finished 7th and was named all-conference, Bridget Hickson was 9th and Anna Hickson 20th.
The Wakefield CDS volleyball team had hoped to avenge an earlier loss to Randolph-Macon this week but lost a very close contest, 11-15, 15-11,9-15,15-6 and 12-15.
In the fifth game, said Coach Pam Henry, the lead went back and forth before RMA pulled out the victory.
In the fourth game Wakefield CDS player Caroline Brandt scored 10 points.
The Wakefield CDS boys’ soccer team lost 7-1 Oct. 21 against Seton, then bounced back to beat the RMA JV squad for the second time this season, 5-1, on Oct. 25.
