The Rappahannock Panthers soccer team ended its season with a Homecoming game win against the Warrenton Blaze Saturday.
Rappahannock got two goals from Damien Muriel and two from center forward Shane Lambert to win, 4-2. The team ended the season with a 3-6 record.
Coach Uli Maeyer said the young team progressed further in his first year as coach than he thought they would, making him optimistic about next year.
“It was a sheer pleasure to work with these guys. They improved very much,” he said.
Girls basketball
heads to tourney
The Rappahannock High girls basketball team beat Manassas Park last week 45-36 to clihch seventh place an a spot in the Bull Run District tournament.
The Lady Panthers play either Strasburg or Page in the first game, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Handley High School in Winchester. Note that the tournament site has been moved.
High scorers in the Manassas Park game were Sherron Bod die and Emma Swatman with 15 points each. Leah Marlett also scored 10.
The win increased their record to 3-12 in the district, 3-15 overall.
