Well, I wasn’t real big on geography in those days, so I sped out of there and for many years I drove in the opposite direction. Like most college students then—and now—I got busy trying to find myself.
This is what I found when I went searching for myself. It is an onion. I brought this onion because it best represents what people discover when they try to find themselves. Because what do you find when you peel an onion?
You find nothing. Because there is nothing inside an onion. An onion is just layer upon layer of thick, dead slrin. An onion is hollow inside. Empty. And so are we—without Jesus. And this is why we should not leave home without Him.
