Samuel Craun

Samuel Wilkins Craun, 68, of Culpeper, died Thursday, June 9 at the Culpeper Health Care Center.

Mr. Craun was born in Warrenton on May 16,1926.

He was a retired painter and a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Benning Craun of Culpeper; six step-children, Mary Ann McCloud of Reva, Mildred Ruth Grigsby of Boston, Frances Meredith of Washington, Willie Grigsby Jr. of Culpeper, Bobby Grigsby of Louisa and Patricia Meredith of Madison; 13 step-grandchildren and two sisters, Nancy Potter of Baybora, N.C. and Betty Swindell of Alanice, N.C.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14 at Clore Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Shifflett officiating.

Interment was at Culpeper National Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers were Willie Grigsby Jr., Bobby Grigsby, Steven Lee Keller, Samuel M. Swindel Jr., Samuel D. Swindel and Michael Swindel.
