Rev. J.S. Colvin
The Rev. John Sidney Colvin, 85, of Viewtown, a Methodist clergyman and farmer, died on Thursday, June 9 at his residence.
A native of Stafford County, he was the son of the late George McCoy Colvin and Dora Rebecca Ruffner.
His wife, the former Eva York, died in 1992. i
Mr. Colvin was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Normandy invasion and various battles on the European front. He participated in the liberation of some of the concentration camps.
He was a graduate of Stafford High School and completed his theological studies at Duke Universiety.
He served as pastor of various churches including Brown’s Cove United Methodist Church near White Hall in Albemarle County, Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and the Winston Chapel, both in Culpeper County.
