By CINDY MAHAN * Rappahannock Ncm Staff Writer » The Rappahannock Animal Wei* fare League brunch at the Bleu Rock Inn last Sunday was a tremendous success. According to treasurer Ron Werronen, RAWL netted close to 13,500.
Lisa Reid from RAWL told the audience that the brunch was the first time that the organization had been able to come together for such a large gathering, then gave some background.
RAWL was incorporated in 1991, but the first animal shelter was opened in December, 1990. Ms. Reid said that after five days, animals are wards of RAWL, and that RAWL does not wish to kill any animals in its care. “In 1994 not one has been put to sleep and we do not intend to,” she said.
