He estimated the project cost for the elementary school only at $147,480. That would include lining the lagoon. The school board has setaside $237,100 for septic engineering and construction from the bonds issued for the elementary school expansion. This amount would approximately pay for the Lemna system for the elementary school and the additional costs of bringing sewage from the high school to be treated. However, Mr. Van Kirk did not recommend that additional work in the initial plan.
The bond funds must be spent by December of 1995.
Assistant Superintendent Robert Chappell said the construction project is on schedule but no longer has a buffer of time. The board adopted a calendar for the coming year that includes a work day November 18 for the move into the new addition.
The board approved a revised grading system. Mr. Chappell also reported the state will require next year that every graduate either be prepared for college or complete a vocational program. He said that students schedules are being developed to meet this requirement.
The board opened bids for various services but agreed the administration should study the bids before accepting any.
The board will meet June 27 at 11 am. to pay final bills in the current fiscal year. The July meeting was scheduled for Thursday July 21 instead of the customary day because members vacation plans presented conflicts.
