To the Editor:
On behalf of The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, I would like to express our appreciation for the many donations and volunteer hours which made the “Pump Boys and Dinettes” benefit for the Washington Volunteer Fire Department an overwhelming success last week.
This fund raiser enabled RAAC to make a significant donation to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, which will be used toward a free concert to enhance the department’s annual Fourth of July celebration. Among those scheduled to perform are The Seldom Scene and Rare Bird.
We appreciate the tireless efforts of Bev Atkins, Ellen Manson and their kitchen crew, which resulted in an excellent dinner featuring culinary contributions from The Bleu Rock Inn Restaurant, The Country Cafe, and The Inn at Little Washington. Pam Round and The Natural Marketplace in Warrenton donated a tasty vegetarian entree.
Thanks also to The Mountainside Market, The Earth Gallery, The Natural Marketplace and Culpeper Music for assisting us with ticket sales, and to Trinity Episcopal Church and Middle Street Gallery for lending their chairs.
The Fauquier Community Theatre cast and producer Marcus Haynes were wonderful to work with. These talented folks are to be admired as much for their altruism as for their fine performance.
Finally, we would like to thank the Rappahannock News for publicizing this worthwhile community event. Thanks to you, we were sold out and actually had to turn people away. We truly couldn’t have done it without your support! PAGE ANN SMITH, President
