Rappahaanack News Staff Writers > It has been more than a month since volunteers spent a I day working at the old Washington School preparing it to be used as a senior center and site for the nutrition program operated by the Community Services Board, but the seniors . ' have yet to be allowed to move into their center.
They have been using the First Baptist Church on the Fodders tack Road as a temporary site waiting for the move. This week the church needed the building in order to get ready for a Revival, and the nutrition site has had to go on the road.
According to site supervisor Ruth Kiger, the seniors went to the Warrenton senior nutrition site on Monday and were to go to Culpeper Wednesday where they would join the Culpeper group for a Halloween party. They were scheduled to return to Culpeper Friday, and Mrs. Kiger does not know whether they will be returning to the First Baptist Church next week or whether they will be allowed to make use of their new site.
Ethel Bailey, a senior who- has attended the nutrition site for many years as a congregate and as a volunteer, said "I feel like they are giving us a bum rap." She said that they , had thought they were ready to move in, and then were required to have more done in order to have the building

There are 3,957 Rappahannock citizens eligible to vote in Tuesday's election, up 9 percept from-the 3,621 eligible % ■to vote in 1992, the last .Presidential election, but not up “ 1 much from the 3,833 eligible to vote in November 1995, . when a hotly contested election for sheriff swelled the voter rolls.
Registrar Nancy Leake said it is difficult to estimate . how much the fedetal "motor voter" law has increased registration, since many of the applications she received from DMV were for people who already were registered.
She said those who registered by mailing in an application must be prepared to show identification when they vote for the first time next Tuesday. Those who registered at - DMV or social services offices are considered as having
