In an usual departure from the standard concert format, the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society presents the second of four events in its fifth season at the Theatre at Washington at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The Society's artistic director for the series, cellist, conductor, and musicologist Kenneth Slovvik, provides an in-depth look at Franz Schubert's great masterpiece, the String Quartet in D Minor, D810, Death and the Maiden. Assisting in the presentation are the four young members of the Tawes String Quartet, a scholarship ensemble in residence at the University of Maryland.
