Quest Speaker at Black Oak Colonial Virginia Baptist Preacher John Leland will speak at the Black Oak Regular Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. Elder Leland was bom in Grafton, Massachusetts in 1754 but moved to Virginia in 1776 where he began his preaching ministry and struggle with other Baptist preachers against the established church (Virginia then had a state church). Elder Leland will tell the untold story of how a persecuted people called Baptists contributed to the freedom of religion that all churches now enjoy. Rev. Roger L, Salmon of Jefferson, Maryland, will be speaking at the 11 a.m. services at Black Oak Regular Baptist Church, located on Route 729 Sunday, Nov. 3rd. Rev. Salmon, will portray John Leland, and old Baptist Minister who began his ministry in Virginia in 1776, preaching also throughout the area. The public is cordially invited to attend this service. "A harvest dinner will follow the morning services and all are invited to stay and fellowship with us," said a church spokesperson. Elder Wayne Richards is pastor of Black Oak.
