To the Editor:
The Friends of the Rappahannock Library has agreed to pay $20,000 to pave the driveway of the library. In my opinion that is an extremely poor use of resources. For $20,000 we could purchase 1,200 new books for the library.
The cost of repairing the blacktop will not be significantly less than maintaining the gravel. People complain about the ruts. The irony is that as soon as it is paved, people will complain about the speed at which people drive, and will have to install a speed bump which will bring us right back to the situation we have now.
