The pacesetters: Swift, Merlillat Industries, Virginia Power-Fauquier, Virginia Power-Orange, Central Fidelity National Bank, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Mid-Day Lions, Culpeper Rotary Club, Clement Insurance, Commonwealth Gas, United Way Board, Staff and Agencies kicked off the campaign with $104,711.92 in pledges — a 52 percent increase over last year's kick-off.
To date $141,027.09 of the $350,000,000 goal have been raised. . The money raised during the campaign will go toward funding the programs that benefit the community, whether it's a hot meal to a homebound senior, a safe haven for an abused women, a child going to camp for the first time or shelter for a displaced family. All contributions "work right here at home" funding the 27 agencies that serve the citizens of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties.
