for 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Library, a program with Beverly Leathers, director of the county Social Services Department.

Mrs. Leathers graduated from Madison College in Harrisonburg with a BS degree in social work and minor in psychology. She has been employed here for eight years.

The work of her office covers many activities because it administers both state and federal programs that relate to human services. Mrs. Leathers will tell us how programs such as Food Stamps, ' Medicaid, foster care and adoption impact the county. She will also inform us of an after school program recently started as a sentencing option for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court which is designed to provide therapeutic and punitive intervention for teens who have committed non-violent crimes.

The agency employs, besides the director, six full time workers and two part time ones.
