While John Warner's adept at getting defense pork for Norfolk and should be commended fen- his opposition to the Senate candidacy of Ollie North two years ago, his record has otherwise been environmentally, educationally and budgetarily indefensible for our country.

There are now compelling reasons for electing a man for the future, not the past, and that man is Mark Warner for Senate. He is a man who, like Bill Clinton and unlike John Warner, is ready to meet the future decades with know how, experience, compassion and good fiscal judgment

For example, one of the pledges Mark Warner has made over and over again is his support for strengthening small businesses. He speaks from personal experience and, since Rappahannock County's economy depends so much on the health of its small businesses, Mark Warner's votes in the Senate could greatly strengthen Rappahannock County's well-being.

Mark Warner also strongly supports President Clinton's pledge to help our students develop the means to succeed in this era of rapid change. And certainly, Mark Warner’s support of environmental policies that protect the hills and mountains, the forests and fields, the streams and wildlife we prize so highly here in Rappahannock County also merit our votes on November 5.
