After remarks by school superintendent Dr. David Gangel and school board chair Dr. John Tole, the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors heard about two hours worth of comments on this year’s proposed school budget.
Tole told the audience that the school board had tried to “achieve a balance in what we’ve put forward in this budget.”
Gangel reported that due to additional state funding of $213,903 for school construction and required matching funds of $151,638 from the county, instead of asking for $381,500 from the county the school board is requesting $167,597 — or 3.8 percent of the proposed budget instead of 8.72 percent.
