The junior varsity baseball team at Rappahannock High School has had a great season this year and have a chance to finish it with a winning record next week if things go their way.
The team played Brentsville Friday and made up for their earlier defeat this season by downing that team 13-3.
“It was such a totally different game,” said JV coach Jason Gochenour. “Mark Wharton did a great job of pitching and only gave up three runs through seven innings — a really great job.”
Jesse Smith and Lars Lyman were both “swinging hot bats” he said. Their averages for the season are very high. “But the whole game every member of the team in the starting line up got on base and every runner, with one or two exceptions, got hits.
