Lions auction planned
The Rappahannock Lions Club is preparing for its annual benefit auction to be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Washington fire hall.
The Lions are now accepting any new, used or timeworn items that people would like to discard. They cannot, however, accept food, clothing, mattresses and non-working appliances. They will pick up at any convenient time. Call Roger Andrews at 987-8974 or Hal McDermott at 675-1028 or any Lions Club member. All donations are tax deductible.
Black Musical Heritage set
RAAC will be presenting a concert by the Black Heritage Orchestra from Berlin, Germany starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at The Theatre in Washington. Blending elements of traditional jazz and modern rhythm and blues with African music, salsa, gospel, reggae, funk and rap, the group includes guitarist Mike Russell, vocalist MFA Kera, keyboardist and arranger Reinhard Katemann and drummer Eric Lewis.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and may be reserved by calling RAAC at 675-3193 or may be purchased at Mountainside Market in Sperryville or Culpeper Music Center on Main Street in Culpeper.
Auction planned
