It’s a coincidence, but an interesting one, that the three Virginia State Troopers who patrol the , county and make their homes here have their birthday’s in succession.
Troopers W.A. Sumner, S.M. Knick and CA. Moore have their birthdays April 25, April 26 and April 27, respectively. They also have much in common in their | backgrounds.
| Knick came here from Rockbridge when he was 22. He had worked for a year with the Department of Corrections in Augusta County. “Just long enough to
fet a job with the State 'olicehe said. After the 25 Week training in Richmond he was assigned here in 1988 and said Rappahannock was a big change for him. He has been here since and has no plans to move.
“This is home," he said, “unless a promotion comes along.” He and his wife, Debbie, whom he met here and married, have a 4-yearold son, Sean Michael, II.
Sumner also came to Rappahannock from the training school. He has been here for five and a half years.
Like Knick, Sumner met his wife, Cindy, here. They live in Boston. “A lot has changed for me since I came here,” he said, adding that he also considers the county home and has no plans to
