Every year, when the migration starts, signified by the blooming dogwood trees, head for Fletcher’s Boat House. Fletcher’s is located along Canal Road, just south of the Chain Bridge.
•June: Occoquan Reservoir begins to come alive in June. This is the period that largemouth bass fishing is at its best on the lake.
•July: Smallmouth bass begin to turn out in numbers on the Upper Potomac River during the month of July. It is not unusual during July to have catches of 50+ fish per day. Try the area around White’s Ferry.
•August: Lunga Reservoir at the United States Marine Corps Base at Quantico is noted for its largemouth bass and pickerel population. Lots of big largemouth have come from the lake and fishing pressure is very low. A base permit is required to fish this
