Farm losses caused by fire amount to about $250 million annually. This figure includes loss of dwellings, buildings, animals, hay, grain, supplies and machinery. The main causes of most of the fires is from cigarettes and children playing with matches.

Cadet Jonathan Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Pendelton Jr., has been placed on the dean’s list at the U.S. Air Force Academy for academic excellence. Washington Baptist Church received a new baptismal tub. The bapistry was dedicated during the Sunday service March 20. The Lions Club will sponsor a benefit auction on Saturday, May 14. Total net proceeds will go to the new scoreboard for the new gymnasium at Rappahannock County High School.
