When the strategy is published, it will identify costeffective practices that will help us reach our nutrient and sediment reduction goals.
The Culpeper District has a wide range of BMP’s available for cost share. These encompass a variety of area including forestry, wildlife, livestock, and pasture land. Most practices are cost shared on a percentage basis up to 75 percent of the estimated cost. Others are paid for on a per acre flat rate.
With increased emphasis on accelerated installation of BMP’s most of the flat rates have been increased for the upcoming program year and some have been doubled. In addition to cost share, tax credit is available on a number of practices. Twenty five percent of the portion of the BMP that is covered by cost share can be eligible for a tax credit on Virginia state taxes.
