He’s not going to let anything spoil what might be his only chance to see some good Winston Cup action this year. After this, he may be a little too wrapped up in his own racing.
Or he might be out camping with his wife and two young children. Perhaps he might be away on vacation, visiting family and friends in the Long Island area of New York.
Or maybe he will just be enjoying a quiet weekend at home with his family.
“That’s nice, too,” Werner said.
Sure, there are races to take part in pretty much every Saturday night from March through October, but that doesn’t mean Werner has to take part in them. And sure, he’s looking forward to another successful season in the Winston Racing Series at Old Dominion, but that doesn’t mean Werner has to judge his success by the same standards other drivers might.
For Werner, his happiness at home, at work and at the track comes down to one simple concept.
“I just like keeping it at a balance,” Werner said. “Right now for my brother and I, our balance has been just race to enjoy, not race for the drive. Right now our balance is to race every couple of weeks. We really don’t want to sacrifice much else in our lives.”
