Leake said he inquired about the job as animal control officer because he is an “outside person.” He added that he liked the job when he had it previously.
The Board of Supervisors accepted Menefee’s resignation at its February meeting.
“He resigned for personal reasons,” said McCarthy. “We didn’t have any problems.”
Menefee would not comment on why he resigned and said only that the board advised him not to discuss his resignation.

• The board approved Richie Burke as the StonewallHawthome representative to the Fire and Rescue Advisory Board, and approved payment of Fire and Rescue bills totalling $81,284-80.
• Approved payments to the Ami88ville United Methodist Church, Five Forks Baptist Church and Gid Brown Bible Church for $216 each, as well as $153 to the Woodville Baptist Church, for reimbursement of illegally collected utility bill taxes for the past three years.
