W.H. Lyne, Extension Agent, Agriculture, in Rappahannock County will retire from his position effective Feb. 29. He has served in this capacity in Rappahannock for almost 23 years. Lyne has been eligible for retirement for three years, and says he finds it to his advantage in several ways to do so now. He lives in Gid Brown Hollow with his wife, Frances who is a first grade teacher at Rappahannock County Elementary School. They have two children. Beth O’Bannon was named Sweetheart of Rappahannock County High School and received a crystal tiara during coronation ceremonies at the annual sweetheart dance held Saturday evening at the school. Beth is a senior and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Maurice O’Bannon of Woodville. Parents of elementary school students are reminded of the PTA meeting combined with parent-teacher conference night to be held at Rappahannock County Elementary School Feb. 20. Teachers will be in the classrooms following the PTA meeting to discuss students progress with parents. The presentation of a check for $1,500 to the Amis8ville Fire Company from the ladies auxiliary of that community highlighted the annual banquet held Friday evening in the fire hall. Mrs. A.C.
