Martha Gay

Martha C. “Cat’’ Orange Gay, 84, of Salem, formerly of Portsmouth died Saturday, Feb. 6 at Richfield Nursing Center.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1915 in Eagle Rock, Va.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Reginald Gay; her parents, James and Effie Clappsaddle Orange; three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Gay was a long time member of Court Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews including two very special nieces, Sandy Goins and Betty Jenkins and a very special nephew, Jim Orange of Woodville. Also surviving are six sisters-in-law.

Graveside services were conducted Feb. 10 at Forest Grove Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock.

Lotz Funeral Home in Roanoke was in charge of the arrangements.
