of racing. MARF ni^its alone make up for the club’s annual dues.

Bob Simon doesn’t mind dishing out his annual dues. He’s been a club member for 10 years, and now serves as the club’s treasurer.

Jim Carpenter can be seen.on race days working on the crew for Late Model Stock Car competitor Dion Ciccarelli at Old Dominion Speedway. But the first Wednesday of each month he can be found at MARF’s monthly meeting at Lasick’s Beef House in College Park, Md.

“I’ve been involved with the club since 1984,” Carpenter said. “When I first started going to the meetings the club was small and struggling,” Carpenter said. “It seems to get better as time goes on. I just like being around other people who are interested in the same thing I am. I like the camaraderie and being able to stay on top of what’s going on. It’s just something good to do and I just like being a part of it.”
