By Matt Pelkey Rappahannock News Staff Writer Apple Hill Bakery in Sperryville will reopen Friday under new management and a new name — Ffellegatta’s Eatery. ' Ted Pellegatta, a reluctant businessman but enthusiastic friend and chef cooked and baked at Apple Hill Bakery before it closed on Labor Day. Unwilling to lose a favorite hang-out, nine bakery regulars put up $5,000 to cover a six-month lease, and i^llegatta volunteered to take over as chef, baker and manager, Bellegatta said. “I look at it more as a community service than a business,” he said. “I’ve got to be out of my bird starting a new career this late in life.” On the menu • Breads — Raspberry-banana, green tomato, cracked wheat, country, cheese and sourdough. • Muffins — Cranberry-orange, blueberry and morning glory. • Pies — Apple, blueberry, pecan and old rag. •Croissants — feta and spinach, and ham and cheese. • Sweets — pecan bars, brownies and sour cream coffee cake. • Sweet potato soup. • Sandwiches. • Central Roasters coflee — Pellegatta blend.
