The courses have differing jumping tests — all three courses include regulation timber and hurdle obstacles as well as natural hedges, open ditches and a water jump. Glenwood has several high bullfinch style jumps, meant to be brushed through rather deeply, and Great Meadow has a pair of fearsome Ain tree hedges, quite enormous bushes planted on a tall earthen bank. Great Meadow also includes a water splash and a stone wall.
Horsemen received the new steeplethon division well, as it gave yet another option for horses that are a bit too careful for speedy hurdle racing, yet not quite scopey enough for top-tier timber a place to race.
