Third was a framed 1920-30s poster sometimes given to children by mountain store owners in exchange for berries won by Tom Utz. Fourth was a hand hewn black walnut dough bowl donated by Jack Dickerson and won by Roberta Anderson.
Mr. Scruton was presented with a copy of the property research done by Maureen Harris as our gift to the Scrutons for generously allowing us to use their property.
If you were not able to attend our event, please stop by the Historical Society, say Hi, and tour the building. Not from this area originally? Ask one of our volunteers about having a property search done on your land. Not only will this give you a history of the land, but it will include the families that lived on that land, at least from 1833 when Rappahannock Co. was formed out of Culpeper Co. . “
The Rappahannock Historical Society is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. People from all over the country visit to research their family roots.
