President Marc Langholz wants the costs to be kept low to insure that these concerts are available to anyone in the community who would like to come.
“Becoming a member is the best way for us to keep doing this,” stressed Smith who hopes that as more Rappahannock County residents become aware of these concerts that the word.will continue to spread.
“They’re usually sold out every year,” said Smith who added that he and his wife Traude, who serves as assistant treasurer, have been members for years and most recently have signed on to be directors.
“It’s just a great venue of entertainment brought to the public through a large group of volunteers,” said Smith who noted that the concerts have a “good repeat audience.”
First up this season is a performance by The Celtic Tenors next Thursday evening. International performers they appeal to a wide variety of music lovers with their debut album rising to No. 2 in the United Kingdom and No. 1 in Ireland and Germany.
The Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band is a top-notch band that plays venues from churches and fairgrounds to Mississippi Paddle-wheelers and concert halls. With possibly, “the sweetest clarinet this side of the great divide” this toe-tapping ensemble plays on October 27.
For classical piano fans, Angela Jia Kim will woo audiences with her lyrical eloquence and colorfiil palette at the keyboard. Kim has performed worldwide and captured the Best Interpretation of French music Award from the French Piano Institute in Paris. See her on November 17.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, theatrical singer Franc D’Abrosio, who performed as Phantom in Broadway’s legendary “Phantom of the Opera,” will mix story-telling with his singing as he performs a variety of Broadway tunes. Mark your calendar for February 12.

“We’re just very excited and want people to know about these concerts and enjoy them as much as we do,” said Smith.
Stage Alive Community Concert Association serves a seven-county area including Culpeper, Fauquier, Louisa, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock and Spotsylvania. Organized as a 501(c) nonprofit entity, it receives partial funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Performances are held at Culpeper High School.
