Fhncy a day in the country? How about a stroll around the grounds of one of Virginia’s most historic estates? Or a picnic with a cast of thousands near downtown Charlottesville. Perhaps a jaunt to the mountains? Don’t forget to pack your binoculars.
Whatever your desire, Virginia’s steeplechase circuit can deliver.
Starting this weekend, the Old Dominion hosts eight straight weekends of jump racing action this foil. There’s something for everybody at each of the region’s races, but read along as we dissect what’s special about each steeplechase cm the circuit.
The Thornton Hill Hounds R>int-to-Pbint kicks off the fall season on Saturday Sept. 15. Rwt time is 12:30 pan. Thornton Hill Earm in Sperryville, home to the young hunt dub’s kennels, is nestled into a rolling hillside abutting Turkey Mountain. The course is nearly on top of the Blue Ridge, with the Rsak, Mount Marshall, Thornton Gap and other peaks visible from all points of the course.
