Panthers fan

One of the first classes I took in college was a Sports Media class. The very first day, professor Matt Segfried strutted into the class room and passed out a sheet with the rules of journalism. On the very top of that sheet it stated — Never root for a team. You must remain unbias.

Well professor, I’m sorry. You obviously haven’t seen a team like the Rappahannock Panthers before. Any human being with heart can’t help but adore the Panthers.

They are the ultimate David versus Goliath tale.

They’ve been so awful over the first two years (2-18), that their head coach abruptly quit on them. All winter they listened as folks cried for the abolishment of the program. And this summer, the open coaching position was like the plague - no one wanted to get anywhere near it.

No one gave them a chance.

Well, no one except Coach Mike Williams - who took the job less than four weeks before practice began.
