According to the press release, the team is considering joining neighboring counties that receive the “Cost of Competing Adjustment” (COCA), which would provide additional money for Rappahannock schools. The team is also looking into the possibility of sharing services with a school district with lower property values, which would allow Rappahannock to qualify for increased funds based on the other district’s lower property values, according to the press release.
“It’s so nice to sit and talk about this another time than budget time,” said School Board member Rc»a Crocker, who is part of the funding team.
The press release also indicated that at the Monday meeting the team considered working with a university to establish a satellite campus in Rappahannock County, which might carry economic benefits.
