Petty says Colonial Downs is a very different course than many of the other meets, mostly because speed is such a factor. Not a course that favors the front runner, more often than not the leading horse gets swallowed up before the last fence or takes, a bad fence, like Slip Away did, leaving the door wide open to the fresher mounts.
“He usually switches off but at Colonial you don’t want them to just turn off” Petty said. “He nearly pulled my arms out all around there. He was just cruising to the last fence. He never misses a beat.’'
