Hunt dink

The Loudoun Hunt West will host a foxhunting dink at Valley View farm in Hamilton Sept. 22. The dink is designed to introduce newcomers to the sport of riding to hounds, but much of the day-long session will also interest even experienced hunters.

Subjects for discussion indude history, traditions, etiquette and attire, of the hunt field. The riding portion of the event will recreate a typical day hunting; what happens and why, the horn calls and what they mean and the roles of the staff members.

There will be a kennel visit to meet and interact with the hounds, with plenty of question and-answer times.

The event runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Soft drinks will be provided; participants are invited to taring a brown- bag lunch if desired. The cost is $100. Call (540) 338-2095 or e-mail staMed@hughes.net for details or reservations.
